The first section of the Maya Train is now in operation Tren Maya

The first section of the Maya train was opened this month, and the first trains of the Mexican flagship project are now in operation. The new line is set to connect five states in the Yucatan peninsula in southeastern Mexico with brand-new trains. However, the railway through the jungle is met with both great enthusiasm and major concern.

On google maps is looks as if there has been an earlier train route … and the Palenque station, if that is the only one, is nowhere near the ruins to be visited.
