Airdrie – Bathgate is another hole in the British network

It has happened literally no sooner than the restoration of services in Cumbria, in England. Trains through Caldercruix, in Scotland, have been stopped by the same problem. A huge hole has opened up on the edge of the town, directly under the tracks of the Airdrie – Bathgate line, a route that connects Glasgow and Edinburgh, two of the biggest cities in the UK. Network Rail engineers are looking into it, and expect at least a week of closure.
