Harry Potter bridge overhaul: a job for rail wizards

The Glenfinnan Viaduct has been famous for 123 years. Its fame was renewed as the route of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express. Now it is to undergo a major overhaul as befits such a star attraction. The remote Scottish bridge, towering over the River Finnan, seventeen miles (27km) west of Fort William, will be the subject of a year-long programme by Network Rail. The project will future-proof the landmark for 3.4 million pounds (just under four million euros).
