Adif has earmarked another 22,3 million euros for investment in the Barcelona-Girona-Portbou railway line. The money will used for the installation of a new security and communication system. The money comes on top of the 57,5 million euros already allocated to the improvement works on the line.

It will be linked to the Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) in Barcelona. The improvements will also include deployment of LED signalling. The work will take little over two years to complete, Adif says.

Among the projects already included under the previous 57,5-million-euro investment include a new traffic management systems in Caldes de Malavella. Work is underway to install a new security system between Caldes de Malavella and Girona. Between Maçanet and Caldes de Malavella, the electrification system is being overhauled. Yes, railways, by far is the safest during transports, on shore. Still, for ware owners Mode, now is too risky, thereby too costly. (Just a minority among
ware owners affords luxury, of not caring about “eta”…)
Current, low price, “standards”, has turned high cost, in particular and even worse, as “steering”, extras upon majority, is justified, by mere shortcomings of railways…
At a vital device of society, now Goal of EU…, calls for safety, relevant, as well, at science of logistics!
