Renfe taps CAF for 28 battery-equipped trains

CAF has been awarded a contract for 28 new trains. The new units will operate on Renfe’s so-called medium-distance lines. The trains will be equipped with batteries so that they can run on sections without overhead lines for short distances. The contract is valued at 290 million euros.
