Renfe taps CAF for 28 battery-equipped trains

CAF has been awarded a contract for 28 new trains. The new units will operate on Renfe’s so-called medium-distance lines. The trains will be equipped with batteries so that they can run on sections without overhead lines for short distances. The contract is valued at 290 million euros.

Yes, all vital functions, of society: electrification of railways, etc. have to prove redundant, resilent and robust!
(Lacking of redundancy was direct cause of escalating scenario at Fukushima catastrophe.)
Accordingly, now IM:s and Industry (Commission, etc…) “shall take all steps”, for making railways the resilent, redundant and robust, the timely device!
