The Moscow Metro introduced the new Moskva-2024 train series on Line 2. The Moskva-2024 trains were deployed on Line 2, which is one of the busiest and most extensive routes in the metro network. Over the next three years, Line 2 is scheduled to undergo a complete fleet renovation.

Over the past decade, Moscow has made substantial progress in reducing the average age of metro trains, demonstrating a commitment to improving the commuting experience for its residents. The development of an even more modern Moskva-2026 series is also already underway. The Moskva-2024 series comes with several key features aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and convenience.

Passenger comfort

The newly unveiled Moskva-2024 train series brings a host of enhancements to the Moscow Metro. Firstly, the train’s design features expanded aisle space, allowing for an additional 17 passengers per carriage, thereby facilitating more comfortable and efficient journeys. Compared to its predecessors, such as the “Number” cars (81-717/81-714), the Moskva-2024 series offers a 10 per cent increase in maximum capacity. Also, the doors are 32 per cent wider, facilitating quicker boarding and disembarkation processes.
