US channels billions to new underwater rail tunnel in New York

A proposed underwater tunnel between New York City and New Jersey recently received the largest-ever federal transportation grant, as 6.88 billion dollar (6.27 billion euros) was directed to the project. The new tunnel should replace the 113-year-old North River Tunnel, which has become a crumbling bottle neck.
