Portishead progress – rail development in England’s West Country

Portishead on the north coast of Somerset has been campaigning for over a decade to have rail services restored to the community. Now, just as progress is being made, the project is threatened with derailment, due to unexpected issues. Nonetheless, promoters of the project remain optimistic, and the local authority is confident of waving off the first train.
