The rail sector no longer wants to bear the costs of sustainability alone. When SpoorPro organized the seminar ‘Working Electrically in the Railways’ in December, there was a lot of scepticism among – especially – smaller rail contractors about ProRail’s sustainable ambitions. They cannot make large investments in the sector’s sustainability and wonder what the revenue model is for them. The major contractors initially took the lead in the sector’s sustainability efforts, but now they too have doubts. The sector feels abandoned in its sustainability policy by the government and ProRail. This is what SpoorPro hears at the stands and in the corridors of RailTech Europe ’24.

It is a pity, but rail industry has “missed the train”…
(It is 2024 and ware owners have shifted strategy to “On Demand”.)
When “equal”, when meeting with demand of clients, when proving high quality, then Industry will be handsomely rewarded by willingly paying clients, etc., etc.
Accordingly a shift is needed. Investments at railway infrastructure, have to be Future Proof, thus safely with safety factors, as otherwise…, thus apart of resilient, as well with surplus
capacity (redundant).
