There are less than three weeks to go until this year’s Intelligent Rail Summit. With the programme now complete, all signs are green for another successful edition of this important event, which features more than 15 expert speakers across four sessions.

The Intelligent Rail Summit 2022 will be held on November 16-17 in Konstanz, Germany, and traditionally revolves around Wayside Train Monitoring Systems (WTMS), infrastructure monitoring and asset management, which all have taken on new importance. The full programme can be accessed here.

Speakers from Rail Baltica, Dutch Railways and voestalpine Signaling, among others, will kickoff the conference programme during a session on the latest developments in WTMS. Panellists hailing from DB Netz, VR FleetCare and ProRail will subsequently discuss the balance between the availability of infrastructure and the maintenance thereof.

Expert from SBB, ProRail and consultancy firm AFRY will talk about strategic asset management and infrastructure monitoring during our second session, which will also be followed by a panel discussion. Participants will debate the possibilities for spending on innovation in a time of runaway costs.

Analysing monitoring data will take centre stage during the third session of the event, which will feature speakers from Graz University of Technology, voestalpine Railway Systems and VR FleetCare. The fourth and final session will be all about data-driven solutions, digital twins and triplets in particular. How to make the most of this technology will be the topic of debate for the final panel discussion.

This year we are also joined by specialists from the academia. In addition to a representative from the Graz University of Technology, we also have speakers from ETH Zürich and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne.

Convenient location

The venue for the Intelligent Rail Summit 2022 will the Steigenberger Inselhotel in Konstanz, beautifully located on the famous Lake Constance. Konstanz can be reached with great ease from nearby Zürich Airport, which has a direct train connection with Konstanz.

Finally, the event will include ample networking opportunities, including networking drinks and dinner. Another important element of the event is the technical site visit, which we will discuss in next week’s article.
