In Denmark, DSB is gearing up for what is expected to be an exceptionally busy Easter holiday period. According to DSB, the weekend leading up to Easter week is expected to be the busiest.

While Easter may not typically be the busiest time for DSB, this year’s trends suggest otherwise. Compared to the previous two years, there has been a notable increase in the number of travellers, which DSB largely attributes to the surge in Orange ticket sales.

Tony Bispeskov, Head of Information at DSB, highlights the attractive options for Easter travellers, stating, “If you are travelling at Easter, there are good opportunities to get hold of one of the cheap Orange tickets. And on the whole, there is better space on the trains during Easter, while many commuters and students take time off.”

The introduction of the Orange ticket campaign by DSB has seen remarkable success this year, with over 96,000 tickets sold. This represents a staggering 138 per cent increase compared to the corresponding Easter period last year. The majority of travellers have opted for tickets across the country via the Great Belt.

Based on sold seat tickets and Orange tickets, reflecting the diverse travel preferences of Danes during the Easter holiday season, the top destinations domestically include Copenhagen Central Station, Odense, Fredericia, Aarhus H, Copenhagen Airport, Horsens, Aalborg, Guiding, and Esbjerg. Internationally, DSB has also witnessed significant growth in Easter holiday travel, experiencing approximately a 20 per cent increase compared to last year.
