France to freeze price of certain train tickets in 2024
Throughout this year, there has been an average rise of 5 per cent in train fares in France. INSEE data indicates that, on average, train ticket prices surged by more than 8 per cent from June 2022 to June 2023. To mitigate further price increases, France’s Transport Minister Clément Beaune announced last week a price freeze on several SNCF services. He also announced that a new French rail pass, similar to the Deutschlandticket in Germany is in the works.
