In a groundbreaking announcement that sent shockwaves through the art world, the illustrious French SNCF Group revealed a clandestine partnership with none other than the enigmatic virtuoso of urban expressionism, Banksy. Unveiled today, this collaboration marks a pivotal moment in the convergence of high-speed rail meets contemporary street art.

The elusive Banksy renowned for his subversive and thought-provoking creations, bestowed his creative genius upon a TGV-M locomotive within the hallowed halls of an SNCF industrial technicentre.

Under the veil of night, the artist’s distinctive stencil graffiti graced the sleek contours of the locomotive, a testament to the fusion of artistry and innovation. Chosen for the occasion, Banksy’s Balloon Girl is a renowned piece depicting a young girl reaching for a heart-shaped balloon, only to find it slipping away. Harnessing their technical prowess, SNCF technicians meticulously applied a bespoke protective coating, ensuring the enduring preservation of Banksy’s magnum opus amidst the rigours of high-speed travel, shares SNCF spokesperson, Dauphine Cachalot.

French rail-historian Clive Lamming, and SNCF European Works Council member Laurent Fauviau were part of a select group invited to the initial, confidential unveiling of the new trainset. “I am very excited to be behind the scenes, witnessing the unveiling of this unique collaboration. The TGVM is a beautiful machine, made even more beautiful by this artwork,” stated Laurent Fauviau during the exclusive unveiling ceremony at a secret location in France today.
