90 per cent of the Belgian network is now electrified
In Belgium, the newly opened electrified railway line 15 has been inaugurated with a symbolic first electric train ride from Hasselt in the province of Limburg to Mol, in the province of Antwerp. This step completes the electrification of Infrabel’s passenger rail network in the region. A total of 5,965 kilometres of the main track, or more than 90 per cent of the Belgian network, is now electrified, making the country a European leader in this field.
