All aboard the EM-ICE “Fan Capital Hamburg”! Deutsche Bahn (DB) unveiled its latest marvel Tuesday: a fully decked-out ICE train transformed into a rolling fan zone in celebration of the upcoming UEFA European Football Championship. In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the train is adorned inside and out with vibrant football motifs representing the 24 participating nations.

At a lively ceremony held at Frankfurt Central Station, Dr Michael Peterson, DB’s board member for long-distance passenger transport, alongside key figures such as Andreas Schaer from EURO 2024 GmbH and Michael Otremba from Hamburg Tourismus, officially christened the 7-part ICE 4 as the “Fan Capital Hamburg.” The city earned the honour after winning a spirited vote on DB’s Instagram channels.

Dr. Peterson hailed the EM-ICE as a unique fan zone, bringing the electric atmosphere of the stadium directly into the train. As the official national partner of the championship, DB is gearing up to offer special deals and additional trains around match days, making it easier and more affordable than ever to travel to the games.

From large-scale football-themed stickers adorning the carriage walls to quirky fun facts scattered throughout, passengers can expect a plethora of surprises aboard the EM-ICE. Serving as a mobile ambassador for the championship, the train will travel the country in the coming months.
