Network Rail has been taking proactive measures to ensure the smooth operation of trains across the UK during the upcoming high summer temperatures. With the first heatwave of the year expected to bring sustained temperatures over 30 degrees, Network Rail has been undertaking preparatory work to protect the railway infrastructure from the potential effects of extreme weather.

RFI, Italy’s Infrastructure Manager does white-painting the rails since almost 20 years. This simply action lowers the temperature of the rails around 10 degrees. It seems that Network Rail discovered the cold water…
