Munich welcomes Germany’s most advanced S-Bahn trains

Munich is set to host Germany’s most modern S-Bahn trains, thanks to Siemens Mobility winning an EU-wide tender to deliver 90 state-of-the-art trains valued over €2 billion. These XXL-size S-Bahn trains each measure over 200 meters in length and are capable of accommodating up to 1,841 passengers. They are set to commence service by the end of 2028 and are designed to meet passenger growth, forecast for the coming decades by the State of Bavaria and Munich S-Bahn.
