DB rebuilds last section of Ahrtalbahn destroyed by 2021 flooding

Deutsche Bahn (DB) is rebuilding the last destroyed section of the Ahrtalbahn from scratch, two years after it was destroyed. In the summer of 2021, flooding completely devastated the line between Walporzheim and Ahrbrück. The rebuilt Ahrtalbahn is to be fully electrified from the end of 2025, and better equipped for future extreme weather.
