Intelligent Rail Summit: Poland as playground for new technologies

Poland is laying a key piece of new European rail infrastructure. The billion-euro-CPK plan gives the country a change to be frontrunner in new wayside train monitoring systems, monitoring solutions and asset management programmes. For this reason, the 2023 Intelligent Rail Summit is organised in the heart of these new developments, Warsaw.

Several experts in the field will speak on the event on 6th and 7th November. For example, Rail Baltica’s innovation and digital architecture team leader, Andy Billington, will share his vision on digitalisation in a greenfield project. In addition, Jan Lindqvist, CEO of the Swedish railway monitoring company Railway Metrics & Dynamics and Björn Schöning, manager engineering at Progress Rail, will deepdive into technical developments in the area of rail monitoring systems.

The Intelligent Rail Summit is themed ‘Data-driven monitoring and maintenance’. “Rail infrastructure is no longer a collection of railway lines. Keeping up with the drive for innovation, it has become a complex infrastructure of autonomous, intelligent and digitised routes, interchanges, yards and hubs. What was new yesterday is old today”, says Lisanne Noorlander, programme manager of Intelligent Rail Summit. “Because intelligent rail is about expertise, we focus on four specific areas. This year we discuss wayside monitoring solutions, predictive maintenance, asset management and sensor technology.”

“We also look at the regional perspective of the host location of the event – Warsaw. What is Poland doing in terms of intelligent rail? How is Poland connected to the wider region, with projects such as Rail Baltica and the high-speed railway line CPK?”. The goal is to bring together railway experts from across Europe to meet each other, share experiences and learn about the latest developments.

The organising company ProMedia says to expect around 100 technical rail experts from different countries. The publication RailTech.com is mediapartner of the event. You can view the program of Intelligent Rail Summit and register here.
