In scenes of jubilation reminiscent of the Channel Tunnel meeting in 1990, HS2 workers celebrated a major breakthrough under the Warwickshire countryside. The 2,000 tonne tunnel boring machine ‘Dorothy’ has completed second bore of Long Itchington Wood Tunnel. The event marks full completion of first twin bore tunnel on the core section of the HS2 high-speed railway line between London and Birmingham.
