Skånetrafiken takes over from DSB as operator of cross-border regional train
Swedish regional operator Skånetrafiken will assume responsibility for the regional trains that cross the Öresund straight between Sweden and Denmark from Danish operator DSB on Sunday, when the new timetable goes into effect in the border region.
For the past years, Skånetrafiken and DSB shared operational duties between them for Öresund trains on the route between Österport and Kastrup. The Swedes argue that a single operator will come with the benefits of having a single point of contact and information. Furthermore, the frequency of trains crossing the straight out side of peak hours will be increased to four. During rush hour, the number of services per hour will remain six.
In order to make the transition as smooth as possible, Skånetrafiken has set up a Danish-language version of its website and as Danish-speaking customer service staff on board. Speaking to local media, Skånetrafiken business manager Emelie Fredell also argues that the company offers more generous compensation option in case of delays.
