AŽD Praha equips Israel Railways with switch diagnostic system

Source: Wikipedia

Czech technology company AŽD Praha has signed a framework agreement with Israel Railways for the delivery of non-invasive diagnostic equipment for switch points. The contract was concluded for three years with an option for another three years. The diagnostic equipment will be installed at the Israeli railway stations.

AŽD Praha will supply diagnostic equipment at a value of about 115 thousand Euros. The Czech company considers the project as a door to future deals. “The pilot project will then be evaluated, and if the customer is satisfied, the door for orders to other stations will be opened. It is a very prestigious project for AŽD Praha and we believe that we will convince the customer not only by the quality of our technology but also by our professional approach,” said Zdeněk Chrdle, CEO of AŽD Praha.

Non-invasive diagnostics

The diagnostic system was developed by AŽD Praha in order to avoid the interference into the signalling and control systems. It will allow the Israeli Railways network to keep the existing train traffic without delays. The Czech equipment provides the rail company to have a perfect overview of the electrical and mechanical conditions of the particular switch points. The diagnostic system informs not only about the malfunctions of a switch but also warn in advance on the required repair or replacement of a switch point before the damage occurs.
