Intelligent Rail Summit 2019 open for registration

The Intelligent Rail Summit 2019 is now open for registration. The event will take place on 19-21 November in the headquarters of UIC Paris, France. Two themes will be discussed by several railway experts: Automatic Train Operation (ATO) and the Digital Railway.

The programme of the Intelligent Rail Summit 2019 starts with a technical visit on 19 November. It is included in the registration fee. Two other days will be dedicated to the discussions and presentations. On 20 November the rail experts will give insights on the implementing the Automatic Train Operation (ATO), Driver Advisory Systems and ECTS. The third day, 21 November, will be devoted to three main aspects of rail digitalisation: cyber security, Internet of Things, standardisation of data.

Themes and speakers

On 20 November the discussions and presentations will cover different dimensions of rail traffic automatisation. Thus, Matthew Lewis and Richard Plokhaar from engineering company Gannett Fleming Canada will give an insight on operational challenges for ATO and its possible solutions. Pavel Popov from JSC NIIAS will deliver a presentation on Russian experience in implementing ATO including developing the autonomous shunting locomotives and commuter trains.

The next day, 21 November, will be dedicated to the Digital Railway. CER Executive Director Libor Lochman will participate in the conference. He will tell about the policy priorities in rail digitalisation. Miki Shifman from Cylus and Christoffer Neesen from TÜV Rheinland InterTraffic GmbH will give the presentations about cyber threats. Mr Shifman’s speech will be devoted to the cyber attacks in rail signalling. At the same time, Mr Neesen will tell about cyber security in using the railway applications. Bob Janssen will deliver a report about the Eulynx programme aimed at standardisation of interfaces and elements of the signalling systems.

The programme committee consists of Professor Rob Goverde (Delft University of Technology), Sharvind Appiah (Shawne Applebee International) Bart van der Spiegel (Infrabel) and Marieke van Gompel (SpoorPro / RailTech).
