Italy in France? Trenitalia to launch Paris-Marseille route

France’s railways are opening up to even more competition next year, as Italy’s state-run rail company Trenitalia confirms to RailTech that it’s preparing a new service between Paris and Marseille starting in 2025. The news of ever more liberalisation on the French tracks comes as the Italian operator’s umbrella company unveiled its latest offering for Trenitalia at InnoTrans 2024, the enhanced Frecciarossa 1000. It could soon be on the French tracks. Essentially, expect to see more red trains west of the Italian border, and soon.
