Belgium: SNCB stops selling some intl. tickets over-the-counter at multiple stations

Belgium’s SNCB will from tomorrow stop selling some international tickets over the counter at several stations due to the apparent “continued decline in physical sales” of international travel passes. The Belgian operator tells RailTech it’s a decision based entirely on demand, or the lack thereof. But locals, especially in Limburg – and even the country’s rail complaint’s body – aren’t happy.

I would say the international “partners” like Deutsche Bahn are guilty for that decision, as they have too complicated fare systems etc., which apparenly makes these offers too complicated to sell or lead to “international fares” that are too expensive compared to the prices normally paid by their customers.

Anyhow, Deutsche Bahn had terminated the sale of “normal tickets” (i.e. Sparpreis) for their own offerings at their stations, so it is no surprise if SNCB could not offer them as well.
