France’s new rail firm accelerates regional liberalisation
There’s a new rail company in France. Transdev Rail Sud Inter-Métropoles (TRSI), a subsidiary of the private transport company Transdev, has obtained its safety certificate to operate the Marseille-Toulon-Nice route. It’s the first regional rail line in France to formally get the go-ahead for private sector services. And unsurprisingly, its imminent arrival on the tracks is fuelling the fierce debate over Europe’s rail liberalisation.
