Bulgaria: Škoda secures €500m contract amid safety crisis
Amid an ongoing rail safety scandal, Bulgaria is significantly modernising its rolling stock. Škoda Group has been awarded a contract worth more than half a billion euros to put more than 20 new electric trains on the country’s tracks. Following an alarming spike in rail accidents, the new transport minister described the Škoda order as “a huge step towards the renewal of the Bulgarian railway.”
