Budapest rail bridge closure: short-term fix raises long-term concerns
Hungarian Railways (MAV) plans to close and renovate one of the country’s most important rail freight crossings, Budapest’s Gubacsi Bridge. With a large section of Hungary’s industry depending directly on the bridge, its closure could have a drastic impact on the nation’s finances. But beyond that, critics argue the planned works will only be a short-term fix for what appears to be a serious long-term problem.
